Jack Davenport is an English actor. He portrays Karl Grove in the first season of CBS All Access's Why Women Kill.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Davenport was born in Wimbledon, London. He is the son of actors Nigel Davenport and Maria Aitken. He lived in Ibiza, Spain, for the first seven years of his life. His parents divorced when he was 7, at which point he was sent to the independent Dragon School in Oxford, as his parents did not want him to become involved in the divorce proceedings.

He went on to attend Cheltenham College, a boarding independent school for boys (now co-educational), in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, followed by the British American Drama Academy in London.

Career[edit | edit source]

Davenport’s acting career in 1996 when he starred in BBC’s This Life until 1997. Since then, he has appeared in other television shows, including Channel 4’s Ultraviolet, Dickens, Eroica, FlashForward, Smash, The Good Wife and Deception.

He has also appeared in movies, including his movie debut Fierce Creatures, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and its sequels, Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and The Wilde Wedding.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Davenport married actress Michelle Gomez in 2000. They have one child together, a son, Harry, born in 2010.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • His uncle is writer and former Conservative MP Jonathan Aitken, his maternal grandmother was socialite Penelope Aitken, and one of his maternal great-grandfathers was John Maffey, 1st Baron Rugby.
