Matthew Scott Porter is an American actor, voice actor and occasional singer. He portrays Ralph Vlasin in the first season of CBS All Access's Why Women Kill.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Porter was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He has two younger siblings, a brother, Brendan, and a sister, Ariana. He attended Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Florida, where he was a wide receiver on the football team. He graduated in 1997. While a student at the University of Central Florida, he sang vocal percussion in an a cappella vocal group, 4:2:Five, and also worked as a babysitter.

Career[]

In 2004, Porter starred in the original cast of the Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz. In 2006, he temporarily took over the role of Casey Hughes in the soap opera As the World Turns. That same year, he starred in a main role in the NBC sports drama Friday Night Lights until 2008. He has also appeared in other television series, including The Good Wife, Hart of Dixie, the voice of Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider in Ultimate Spider-Man and Scorpion.

Porter has also starred in movies, including Music and Lyrics, Speed Racer the 2008 Prom Night remake, Dear John and The To Do List.

He has also done voice-over work for video games, including Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: Season Two as Luke, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham as Aquaman and Superboy, Lego Marvel’s Avengers as Winter Solider, and Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series as Peter Quill/Star-Lord.

Porter is a fan of comic books and has auditioned for several comic book hero roles. He is also a fan of HeroClix, filming unboxing videos of upcoming sets for the WizKids Facebook page. Porter performed and sang the song "Someone to Fall Back On" in the 2009 movie Bandslam, and his song "Pretend" was included in the soundtrack.

Personal Life[]

Porter married casting director Kelsey Mayfield, a former University of Texas cheerleader whom he had met on the set of Friday Night Lights, in April 2013. They had a son in May 2015, and a daughter in August 2017.
